Rozstaje Carpathian Music Festival 2002

The Rozstaje (Crossroads) Carpathian Music Festival has become a regular event of the Krakow Main Market Square. This year, it was already held for the fourth time. Preservation of the very old custom of joint multi-generation family music-making, and mutual influence of the traditions shared by the cohabitating peoples is characteristic for the Carpathians.

In July 2002, Rozstaje gathered musicians from Bulgaria, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, and Poland. All that began in the Krakow Main Railway Station, where the Brasov Train Station happening made us more aware of the cultural variety of Transylvania - the meeting place for Hungarians, Romanians, Jews, Gypsies and Hutsuls. Later, a parade of the bands proceeded along Floriańska Street to the Main Market Square. More information about festival http://www.krakow2000.pl/rozstaje/

The Carpathian music has in the recent years facilitated the creation of a certain fashion, a certain trend for "highlander folk", that's why the Carpathian Heritage Society built its stand during the festival showing and selling Hutsul handicrafts from Carpathian products e-trade, publications, T-shirts, etc. Look for some pictures:
